Report on Estimated College Continuation Rates for Nebraska Counties for the High School Class of 2005-06. Revised
Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education
This report provides an estimate of college going rates by county for all 93 Nebraska counties for the high school graduating class of 2005-2006. Included are graduates of both public and private high schools. The report provides best-available data on graduates who attended Nebraska institutions (including public, independent, and for the first time, for-profit degree-granting and non-degree-granting institutions). Nearly 56% of Nebraska's 2006 high school graduating class attended a Nebraska postsecondary institution the following fall. Data are not available by county on Nebraska high school graduates who attend college outside the state. Using national data, estimates can be provided of the out-of-state college continuation rate for the state as a whole--12.4%. Adding those two numbers together, one can estimate that about 68% of Nebraska's 2006 high school graduates attended a postsecondary institution the following fall. This report provides an analysis of where Nebraska students go when attend an out-of-state institution. Finally, college going rates vary widely--from 19% to 100%, with no correlation with county size. Three maps and four tables provide that information. [This report was prepared by the Office of the Governor by Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education.]
