Student Success. September 2006
Online Submission
"Student Success" is EPI's occasional e-magazine dedicated to the discussion of retaining students in higher education. This is the third of three parts in the Institutional Strategies Series. The first article in the March issue outlined the barriers to student retention, both from the extant literature and also from interviews and surveys conducted through EPI workshops around the US and Canada. The second part focused on programs and strategies that appear to either help OR hinder student retention on campus. This issue discusses the inherent difficulties in getting buy-in on our campuses--all campuses--from faculty, staff, administration, and yes, students. In this issue: (1) Part III of the three-part series: The Buy-In Challenge; (2) The Review: "Challenging & Supporting the First-Year Student. A Handbook for Improving the First Year of College;" (3) Moving from Research to Practice; (4) Five Questions: Dr. Henry Villanueva, University of Nevada -- Las Vegas; (4) Retention 2006 Conference Highlights; and (5) Best Practice: Inside Track.
