Student Success. May 2006
Online Submission
"Student Success" is EPI's occasional e-magazine dedicated to the discussion of retaining students in higher education. This is the second of three parts in the Institutional Strategies Series. The first article in the March issue outlined the barriers to student retention, both from the extant literature and also from interviews and surveys that EPI has conducted through its workshops around the US and Canada. This edition's discussion focuses on programs and strategies that appear to either help OR hinder student retention on campus. The June 2006 issue will discuss the inherent difficulties in getting buy-in on our campuses--all campuses--from faculty, staff, administration, and yes, students. In this issue: Feature: (1) Part II of the three-part series: "Strategies to Increase Student Success" (Watson Scott Swail); (2) The Review: "The Toolbox Revisited: Paths to Degree Completion from High School Through College" (Clifford Adelman); (3) Interview: Cliff Adelman, U.S. Department of Education; and (4) Best Practice: George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.
