Community Schools for All: A Case Statement and Strategic Plan 2007-2014
Coalition for Community Schools
In May 2007, leaders from national organizations and local communities gathered to renew their commitment to deepen their organizations' dedication to community schools. They developed a strategic plan, described herein, that will achieve the goals of sustaining and strengthening existing school initiatives; grow new community schools initiatives; and increase the number of schools that identify as, or become, community schools. These results will be achieved through five specific strategies: (1) Foster Local Action; (2) Build Capacity of Local Leaders and Communities; (3) Create a Supportive Policy Environment; (4) Demonstrate the Effectiveness of Community Schools; and (5) Develop a Stronger Communications Plan.
