Graduation Rates at Historically Black College and Universities: A Review of the Literature
Henderson, Floyd T., II; Kritsonis, William Allan
Online Submission, Doctoral Forum National Journal for Publishing and Mentoring Doctoral Student Research, v4 n1 2007.
Extensive research has explored the graduation and retention rates of African American students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The performance of African American students in college and their performance at HBCUs were explored in the literature. Apparently, scholars have not been wiling to address the concerns of the poor graduation rates of African Americans in the higher education system, especially at HBCUs. This article reviews the literature on these topics and discusses the necessity to address this issue. (Contains 1 table.)
