The following is a collection of papers presented at the 12th annual Instructional Technology Conference at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This conference is an opportunity for higher-education professionals from across the country to discuss opportunities and challenges presented by instructional technology. The theme of the conference was "Engaging the Learner." The event was organized and sponsored by the Information Technology Division at Middle Tennessee State University. Featured speakers at the conference were Dr. George Strawn, CIO for the National Science Foundation, Dr. Richard Van Eck, an associate professor in Instructional Design and Technology at the University of North Dakota, and Ron Bleed, vice chancellor emeritus at Maricopa Community Colleges. The conference included two pre-conference workshops, more than 35 presentations divided into three separate tracks, six hands-on workshops, and five poster session presentations. This collection of presentations are a strong reflection of the theme of this year's conference.
