Models of Collaboration and Cost Sharing in Transition Programming. Information Brief. Volume 6, Issue 1
National Center on Secondary Education and Transition (NCSET), University of Minnesota
This brief describes collaboration and cost-sharing among agencies and Federal programs to improve transition supports for youth with disabilities. The brief reviews suggested activities for forming collaborations and pooling resources, and provides examples of programs that have "blended" or "braided" funds provided by partner agencies. It also describes two funding tools that are increasingly used in collaborative relationships. Both blended funding and braided funding pool financial resources to maximize outcomes. These tools can be instrumental in maintaining and sustaining effective relationships in transition programming. A brief list of additional resources is also included.
