Leadership in a Collaborative School has been written for those who are involved in some level of collaboration to improve education--or who soon will be. This report provides evidence-based research and professional wisdom as tools for self-reflection, dialogue, and action. These can, in turn, lead to more effective decision-making and education practices. "Leadership" has been generated, in part, from another publication, "Moving Forward" (Woods, 2002). Where "Moving Forward" provided the bigger picture of essential ingredients for school improvement, this publication focuses on the practical steps for leadership team development. "Leadership" also carries with it the impetus of experience and professional wisdom--that of the author and others--in teamwork and school improvement. "Leadership" can be used alone or in conjunction with "Moving Forward," which contains a variety of tools in each chapter. These toolboxes contain phase-focused tools such as short research syntheses, consensus-building materials, team building, data use, Web addresses to simplify searches for additional information, lists of top-quality books, and much more.
