Improving Instruction Through Professional Learning Teams: A Guide for School Leaders
Sather, Susan E.
Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory (NWREL)
This guide is intended as a resource for school administrators, school leadership teams, and other teacher leaders as they learn about implementing professional learning teams (PLTs) in their schools. PLTs are teams of four to six teachers who come together to help each other improve student learning by changing classroom instruction. This guide will assist school leaders in understanding and supporting the work of PLTs during the planning phase, as well as during implementation of the process. Each chapter begins with questions that serve as an organizer to inform the reader about what's covered in the chapter. Each chapter ends with a brief summary of key points, questions to guide a leadership team discussion, space for notes, recommended reading, and other resources. The appendices contain both supplementary information and tools.
