Teaching Design and Technology 3-11
A concern for technology teaching and for the plight of teachers (trainee, newly-qualified and experienced) working with children between 3 and 11 years of age has led the author to this book. It is a practical book which gives teachers the information they so they can fit in with the teaching in their school. After a foreword by David Jinks and a preface, the following chapters are presented: (1) What Is Design and Technology?; (2) Thoughtful Designing and Making; (3) Teaching Designing and Making; (4) D&T-Related Activities for 3-5 Year Olds; (5) D&T Activities for 5-7 Year Olds; (6) D&T Activities for 7-11 Year Olds; (7) Talking about D&T; (8) Helping Children Make Progress in D&T; (9) Assessing D&T; and (10) Subject Leadership in D&T. A list of suggestions for further reading; an appendix; bibliography; and index conclude the book.
