What's Happening in School and District Leadership?
Education Commission of the States
New energy and resources are emerging for policy discussions about the aspects, types and styles of leadership that lead to effective school practices. Some of these emerging issues include standards for defining high-quality leaders, distributed leadership approaches and school leaders' influence in the creation of a school culture conducive to teaching and learning. This publication explores each of these topics and provides a snapshot of the recent research and literature. Several promising examples of state and district activities are also described.
