Choosing a School for Your Child
Klenk, Jack; Dorfman, Cynthia Hearn; Gill, Wanda E.; O'Malley, Charles J.
US Department of Education
This booklet is a "decision tool" that can help parents navigate the process of choosing a school. It explains some of the public school choices now available in many communities and covers private school options that may be available as well. It outlines steps that parents can follow to help them make a thoughtful choice, and it includes questions that a parent might want to ask when going through the process. Resources are included to help parents find the information that they need for making their decision. There is a section at the end for parents to include contact information and make notes. [This publication was adapted from Choosing a School for Your Child, by Susan Perkins Weston, with contributions from Joe Nathan and Mary Anne Raywid, originally published in 1989 by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, U.S. Department of Education. Book produced by the Office of Innovation and Improvement and funded by the Office of Parental Options and Information as part of the Voluntary Public School Choice Program.]
