"The Inclusion of Numeracy in Adult Basic Education" (Dave Tout, Mary Jane Schmitt) describes trends, best practices, and research in adult and K-12 numeracy education in the United States and several other countries. "Professionalization and Certification for Teachers in Adult Basic Education" (John P. Sabatini, Lynda Ginsburg, Mary Russell) provides case studies of ABE teacher certification and recommends further research in the area. "Current Areas of Interest in Family Literacy" (Vivian L. Gadsden) focuses on up-to-date issues such as parent-child literacy, emergent literacy, and means of assessment and evaluation. "Resources on Family Literacy" (Vivian L. Gadsden) is an annotated bibliography. Chapters include substantial references and 11 tables/ figures.
