This document presents key institutional facts and figures for the 2001-2002 academic year. Information outlined in the report includes: (1) fall enrollment history from 1977-2001; (2) student characteristics; (3) full-time and part-time enrollments; (4) demographic data on incoming students; (5) enrollment by program of study; (6) degrees and certificates awarded; (7) transfer data; (8) responses from a survey of graduates; (9) staff characteristics; (10) faculty characteristics; (11) faculty rank; (12) student financial aid; and (13) tuition and fees. The authors report that the student body at the Community College of Rhode Island enjoys considerable diversity in age, culture, and experience. Sixty-two percent are women, 66 percent are part-time students, and 48 percent are 25 years of age or older. Over 16 percent of the students report they are from minority groups. With respect to incoming student data, 83 percent indicated they would be working over 10 hours per week while enrolled in community college. An analysis of staff and faculty data revealed that 46 percent of the staff at the community college have 15 or more years of service at the institution and that 48 percent of full-time faculty hold the rank of full professor.
