The annotations are organized into chapters that cover the following subject areas and genres: biographies; English--classics; English--use of language; fine arts; "greatest of the latest"; humor; mathematics; multicultural; myths, folktales, and legends; picture books for all ages; poetry; read alouds; science; series; social studies--ancient and early cultures; social studies--United States history; sports and games; and unique presentations. The books were chosen for the quality of writing, interest level, appropriateness of illustrations, and current availability.
