Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) is a publicly supported comprehensive college serving the Iowa counties of Cherokee, Crawford, Ida, Monona, Plymouth, and Woodbury, which have a combined population of about 170,000. This fact book presents statistics, such as the following: (1) 7,113 WITCC students earned over 89,311 credit hours during fiscal year 2002, or about 13 per student; (2) 53% of WITCCs students were women in fall 2002; (3) 687 degrees, diplomas, and certificates were earned by WITCC students in fiscal year 2001; (4) total minority enrollment in 2002 was 519, up from 214 in 1995; and (5) in 2002, 29% of WITCC students were under 18, 20% were 18-19, 21% were 20-21, 10% were 22-24, 9% were 25-29, 6% were 30-34, 4% were 35-39, 7% were 40-49, and 2% were 50-64. In addition, a student satisfaction survey, administered to 432 students, with a completion rate of 60%, indicated that 47% of students had attainment of an associate degree as their stated goal, while 20% were pursuing transfer, and 6% job-related training. Instructional effectiveness rated highest in importance and satisfaction, with registration effectiveness and academic advising rating second and third, respectively, in both categories. Revenues of $20,627,140 came from tuition and fees (44.5%), local support (5.4%), state general aid (38.5%), federal support (4.4%), and other state support and sales and services. This report also discusses the economic impact of WITCC, financial aid, student outcomes, graduation rates, and placement and employment analysis. Contains approximately 80 tables. (Author/NB)
