Black History Special: Inside the Harlem Renaissance. Eleventh Grade Activity. Revised. Schools of California Online Resources for Education (SCORE): Connecting California's Classrooms to the World.
Gordon, Michael A.
This high school learning activity tasks students to plan and produce a black history video focusing on the Harlem Renaissance. The video is to include historical and cultural background, photographs, and interviews with prominent African Americans associated with that period. The activity describes the process; lists resources; gives learning advice and a conclusion; discusses evaluation; and addresses reflection. In the teachers notes section, the activity: states a purpose; addresses California state history-social science standards; suggests length; lists teacher materials needed; cites interdisciplinary connections; and notes adaptations for special needs students.
