Stocktaking Research on Policies for Education for Democratic Citizenship and Management of Diversity in Southeast Europe. Regional Analysis and Intervention Proposals. Regional Report.

This report is a contribution to the Stocktaking Research Project on national government policies within the field of education for Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) and the Management of Diversity (MofD) in the countries of South East Europe (Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia). The Stocktaking Research Project identified one correspondent in each participating country of the region. These correspondents, together with two external participants, constructed a research instrument that guided the process of data gathering and analysis in each country. Each correspondent wrote a country report. Data gathering and analysis distinguished three main fields of investigation: (1) identification and description of national policies in the fields of EDC and MofD; (2) description of steps being taken by governments to ensure the effective implementation of these policies; and (3) collection of the views of a sample of practitioners and other stakeholders who were involved in EDC and MofD in the countries concerned. The report is divided into eight sections: (1) Executive Summary; (2) Chapter 1: Introduction; (3) Chapter 2: The Stocktaking Exercise; (4) Chapter 3: Content, Focus and Scope of Policies in Education for Democratic Citizenship and the Management of Diversity; (5) Chapter 4: Government Measures Designed to Implement EDC and MofD Policies in the Field of Education; (6) Chapter 5: Stakeholder Perspectives; (7) Chapter 6: Conclusions and Recommendations; and (8) Chapter 7: Next Steps.
