Informal Meeting of Project Coordinators in the Working Group on History and History Teaching in South East Europe (Strasbourg, France, August 31, 2001).
Stradling, Robert
At the December 2000 meeting of the working group, four priority areas of activity were identified: (1) curriculum development; (2) initial and inservice teacher training; (3) development of teaching resources; and (4) history teaching in higher education. The working group also anticipates that added value and synergy can be created through ongoing cooperation among the different quick-start projects as well as the dissemination of project outcomes. In August 2001, 11 quick-start projects (including at least one in each of the priority areas) had either been implemented or were planned for later in 2001. All but 2 of the projects (their duration varied from 12 months to 3 years) have secured funding. This report on the working group's informal meeting consists of the following sections: (1) "Summary of the Current Situation"; (2) "Up-Date on Developments at Task Force Level"; and (3) "Progress Report on the History Projects." Appendixes examine problems experienced in implementing the Quick Start History Projects and provide a list of participants. (BT)
