This workbook is designed to help secondary-school students expand their spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension skills through the study of roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Noting that roots, prefixes, and suffixes are the building blocks upon which all words are formed, the introduction contends that a thorough knowledge of these elements will greatly enhance vocabulary and improve understanding of unfamiliar words. In addition, the introduction defines root, prefix and suffix and explains how to do the activities in the workbook. The introduction concludes with a pretest/posttest, and a student introduction follows which includes a warm-up exercise focused on thinking about meaning. The workbook then presents the exercises. Thirteen extension worksheets, intended for assessment or additional practice, and three independent study worksheets follow the exercises.
