In presenting highlights of vocational education and training (VET) finances for 2001, this publication provides insight into how publicly funded VET in Australia is financed and where the money is spent. Information includes primary summaries focusing on revenues and expenses (to show financial performance); assets and liabilities (to show financial position); cash flows (to show how activities are financed); and trends in revenues and expenses. Section 1 highlights main features of the data in narrative form and tables and figures that show financial performance (recurrent revenues and expenditures); financial position (cash flows); and Australia in summary. Section 2 provides detailed statistics from the national collection of VET data for Australia, the eight states and territories (New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, Australian Capital Territory), and the Australian National Training Authority. Four tables for each entity illustrate statement of financial performance for the year; statement of financial position at year's end; statement of cash flow for the year; and operating expenses by activity for the year. Appendixes include explanatory notes; definitions; item definitions; a list of participating organizations; and a sample audit certificate. (YLB)
