This report presents detailed statistical tables that reflect the demographic and employment characteristics of doctoral degree holding scientists and engineers in the United States. The data were collected from the 1999 Survey of Doctorate Recipients (SDR) with the purpose of providing information to researchers and policymakers in their decision making regarding academic achievement and career patterns.
