Youth Services under the Workforce Investment Act.
Resources for Welfare Decisions, v6 n12 Aug 2002
This Resources for Welfare Decisions highlights publications that offer guidance on developing youth systems under the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA). An introductory section discusses the changes WIA made to youth services; the opportunities and challenges these changes created for Youth Councils and youth service providers; states' role in facilitating the development of local youth systems; and local youth systems under WIA that service youth who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. Ten publications and electronic resources and five resource contacts are then listed. The last section provides what states and localities are doing, specifically the California Youth Council Institute, Chemung-Schuyler-Steuben Youth Council, and Louisiana Youth Policy Network. (YLB)
