What Parents, Students and Teachers Think about Standards, Tests, Accountability... and More.
Business Roundtable, Washington, DC.
This collection of graphs and tables of information from various survey sources shows the opinions of parents, teachers, and students about current educational issues. Graphs show that parents think improving schools is top priority, and they support higher standards. Parents see many benefits to student testing, and the majority does not think there is too much testing. Overall, parents have rather traditional views about the importance of education and the respect due teachers. Students also generally support higher standards and tougher tests. Students feel stressed, but have positive attitudes about their schools and their families. Teachers also support higher standards and testing, but do tend to think that tests are narrowing the curriculum. The documents lists 11 resource organizations for further information.
