Presidential Search Guidelines and Directory.
Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges
This publication provides general background information and questions trustees and search committee members might ask as they interview search consultants to help in the search for presidents of institutions and it profiles search firms so that trustees and search committee members can make initial assessments as they look for consultants. A section on selection guidelines describes how a search consultant can help and describes the procedure for selecting a consultant. Suggested questions to ask a potential consultant include features of the search, time factors and scheduling, and characteristics of the consultant's practice. An illustrative code of ethics for a search committee is included. A directory contains profiles of 13 consulting firms, with details about principal personnel and staff, a list of institutions with which the firm has worked, and a review of some other work done and measures of success.
