Mathematics for Teaching.

This essay focuses on the preparation of high school mathematics teachers. Sections discuss what needs to be changed in the current system, what can be done to effect this change, and exemplary practices. The article suggests the following: (1) make connections to school mathematics; (2) look at different models of classroom organization; (3) put mathematical ideas into larger contexts; and (4) build a research experience into teacher preparation.
