Evaluation of an Educational Website for the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

As educators increasingly integrate Web-based resources into their curriculum, there is a growing need for high quality, educationally relevant materials. This study evaluated the Bayou Bend Web site, the result of a collaboration between staff at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas, and faculty and graduate students at the University of Houston to design and develop an educational Web site. A sample of 266 potential users reviewed the Bayou Bend Web site and submitted an online survey developed to measure user perceptions of the design, content, and educational value of the site based on criteria identified in a review of the literature. The results of the survey reveal some of the strengths and weaknesses of the Bayou Bend site (http://www.bayoubend.uh.edu) as well as provide insight into the process of evaluating educational Web sites.
