Los Rios Community College District Office of Institutional Research Fall 2001 Student Profile Based upon First Census Data.

This document provides a fall 2001 student profile for the Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) (California). It includes information on student demographic and enrollment trends. Highlights show that: (1) student enrollment in the district has increased over each of the previous six years; (2) 69,390 students enrolled in one of the three district community colleges in fall 2001; (3) approximately 55% of students were white, with Asian and Latino students representing the next two largest ethnic categories, respectively; (4) the proportion of white student enrollment in the community college district has decreased slightly since 1996; (5) the community college population is slightly more diverse than the surrounding general population; (6) approximately 57% of students are female; moreover, African-American enrollment by gender shows the highest proportion of female students (60%); (7) the largest proportion (25%) of LRCCD enrollment by age are students between ages 18 and 20; (8) 49% of the students take classes during the day, 25% take classes at night, and 26% take classes during both times; (9) most students who enroll in the district express the intent to transfer to a four-year college or university.
