Report on Community College Classes Offered in Conjunction with High Schools (R7-1-709), FY 2000-2001.

This is a report on the 2000-2001 community college courses offered in conjunction with high schools in the state of Arizona. The purpose of the partnership between the two types of institutions is to offer community college instruction to high school students. The students must be admitted to the community college in order to enroll in the courses, which may be taught at the high school or the community college. The courses are taught by community college faculty and use college textbooks, syllabi, and grading scales. Report highlights include: (1) 1,357 community college courses were offered in conjunction with high schools in Fiscal Year 2000-2001; (2) 15,208 students enrolled in the courses, which was slightly lower than the previous academic year; (3) most community colleges offered courses in mathematics, English, and other general education requirements; and (4) vocational and technical courses were offered by some community colleges. The report provides statistics for each community college district in Arizona, as well as for the individual community colleges. Descriptions of the most frequently enrolled courses for each community college is provided, along with the total student headcount for all community college courses offered in conjunction with high schools.
