This memorandum contains facts about degrees conferred by institutions in the University of Wisconsin (UW) System in 2000-2001. Overall, the UW System conferred 28,217 degrees in 2000-2001. Of these, 969 were Associate Degrees, and 20,927 were Bachelors Degrees. There were 4,952 Masters Degrees, and 759 Doctoral Degrees, with 610 professional degrees. The discipline in which the most bachelors and masters degrees were conferred was Business Administration. The top discipline sub-area for doctoral degrees was Chemistry. Of the degrees conferred by UW in 2000-2001, 56.8% were earned by women, and 7.0% were earned by students of color. International students earned 5.1% of UW degrees.
