Fox Valley Technical College New Occupational Markets: Market Research Project Results.
Mishler, Carol
This is a report on the results of a market research project conducted by Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) (Wisconsin) to identify new occupational markets in the college's service area. The college scanned national job lists, employment databases, and northeastern Wisconsin employer advertisements. The college also surveyed employers in the district. Six lists of new potential occupational markets for FVTC students and graduates were created. The lists were aggregated into 14 possible careers: multimedia/Internet specialist, graphic artist, civil engineer, human resources manager, computer support technician, telecommunications specialist, hazardous waste technician, computer repair technician, medical records technician, geographical information systems (GIS) specialist, teacher's aide, HVAC technician, technical writer, and medical sonographer. The report provides a list of various occupations and community colleges that offer degrees or certificates in these fields. It also includes information on the processes used to identify new markets. Results from the service area employer survey list potential occupations along with job descriptions, degree requirements, salary ranges, and market size. The report offers information for the potential development of new degree or certificate programs at the college. (Includes tables with specific information from national job lists, databases, and area employers.) (MKF)
