Community Outreach: School-Community Resources To Address Barriers to Learning. A Center Training Tutorial.
California Univ., Los Angeles. Center for Mental Health in Schools.
School-community partnerships can weave together a critical mass of resources and strategies to enhance caring communities that support all youth and their families and enable success at school and beyond. Comprehensive partnerships represent a promising direction for efforts to generate essential interventions to address barriers to learning, enhance healthy development, and strengthen families and neighborhoods. This training tutorial is designed with self-directed opportunities for more in-depth learning about community outreach for schools. It is divided into three sessions on ways for schools to engage the community, programs that engage the community with the school, and community involvement to enhance learning and support for schools. The tutorial is organized topically, with readings and related activities for preparation, active learning, and follow-up. (GCP)
