This publication provides information about the allocation of funds for student support to higher education institutions in England in 2002-2003. It also requests monitoring information on their use. The report contains background information on student support funding for 2002-2003 and guidance information issued by the Department for Education and Skills. The minimum allocations for Hardship and Bursary (a student support grant) funding are reviewed, and the minimum allocations of administrative funds for 2002-2003 are outlined, as is the initial allocation for Opportunity Bursaries for 2002-2003. The monitoring information required from the institutions by November 6 is also detailed, and the dates by which this information is required are listed. The Department for Education and Skills has made 92 million British pounds available to higher education institutions for student support funding in 2002-2003, representing no significant changes to the overall package of support available in 2002-2003 compared to that of 2001-2002.
