This report mirrors the 25th anniversary theme of the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) and celebrates the educational, community, and business alliances that have inspired positive change and growth. By maintaining vital links to the community, UHCL reaffirms its commitment to a progressively diverse student body by providing greater access and broader opportunities for higher education. Technology has created the global classroom, and UHCL students are able to collaborate with students around the world as easily as they can work in more conventional groups. UHCL teachers are prepared to meet the challenges of new technology for the new century. Research is a major effort of UHCL, and in 1999 the University received public and private sector grants totaling $6,725,944 to support its new and ongoing projects. An emphasis on civic and social responsibility remains integral to the continuing growth and vitality of UHCL and the communities it serves. Some examples are given of projects that integrate community service and educational programs. An honor role of contributors is provided, and some information is given about sources of support and expenditures for the University. (SLD)
