In fall 1997, Westchester Community College (WCC) in New York conducted a survey of 970 students who graduated in summer or fall of 1996 or spring of 1997 to determine their educational and work-related outcomes. The study provides information about these graduates in three ways. First, it profiles their demographic, educational, and work-related characteristics; second, it compares them with graduates from previous years to identify existing trends; and third, it provides results of an evaluation of the services and resources offered at WCC. Study findings, based on responses from 386 graduates (39.8%), included the following: (1) the percentage of females (58.1%) remains higher than that of males (41.9%); (2) the percentage of Blacks (16%) has decreased slightly over the previous year, while the percentage of Hispanics (11.1%) continues to increase; (3) the percentage of students transferring to a four-year college (58.8%) remained nearly constant; (4) satisfaction with jobs obtained is favorable; and (5) respondents continue to give high evaluation marks with regard to overall college experience, courses in their majors, and availability of courses.
