Guidelines for Evaluating...The First-Year Experience at Two-Year Colleges. 2nd Edition.
Gardner, John N.; Barefoot, Betsy O.; Swing, Randy L.
This booklet contains questions that are intended to serve as a starting point for asking meaningful questions about the quality of the first year of college so that a two-year college campus can enhance the learning, satisfaction, and retention of new college students. The previous edition considered the first-year experience for both two-year and four-year institutions; this edition focuses on the two-year college campus. The questions are grouped into the following sections: (1) Academics; (2) Campus Administration, Organization, Policies, and Climate; (3) Campus Processes, Procedures, and Activities; and (4) Student Life and Campus Services. The questions center on recruitment/admissions, financial aid, orientation processes, institutional research, and aspects of the campus environment. (SLD)
