Keep Kids Alcohol Free: Strategies for Action.
Wendehack, Mary, Ed.; Green, Patricia, Ed.
This guide was produced by the Leadership To Keep Children Alcohol Free, a coalition of governors' spouses, federal agencies, and public and private organizations which aims to alert the nation of and mobilize action to prevent this critical public health problem. It is the only national effort that focuses on this age group. The guide is an initiative to prevent the use of alcohol by children ages 9 to 15. The strategies cited in the guide were selected by scientists convened by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, part of the National Institutes of Health. The guide is divided into the following sections: "The Overlooked Age Group"; "Using This Guide"; "Strategies That Work"; "The Home"; "The School"; "The Community"; "Getting Started"; "Mobilizing Communities"; "Additional E-Sources"; "State Contacts"; and "Endnotes" (n=40).
