This guide provides information to help librarians plan, execute, and evaluate events for high school students. Benefits of effective programs are emphasized, and techniques are offered to enhance the curriculum, improve school library media center usage, broaden student interest, and inspire lifelong learning. The book is divided into eight chapters that cover the following topics: (1) "Igniting the Spark for You and Your Patrons," including media center programming defined, types of programs, programming foundations, purposes of programs, and benefits of programming; (2) "Initial Stages of Program Planning," including gathering ideas to determine a theme and developing a plan; (3) "Final Stages of Program Planning," including outlining the program content, obtaining administrative approval, securing teacher support, planning the details, completing final preparations, arranging the facility, executing the program, and following the program checklist; (4) "How To Identify and Locate Resources"; (5) "How To Gather and Organize Resources," including selecting and working with volunteers, contacting resources, and organizing resources; (6) "Searching the Internet for Resources," including resources to support the curriculum, teen interests, and media specialists/teachers; (7) "Extending, Evaluating, and Assessing Library Media Programs"; and (8) "Dynamic Model Library Programs and Ideas," including programs for students, faculty, and the community.
