Special Needs Program Review Profile.
Baine, David
This document provides a comprehensive list of best practices associated with effective and efficient programs for students with various disabilities: social/behavioral, sensory, physical, and cognitive and/or communicative. It is intended to assist in the design and implementation of least intrusive, chronologically age-appropriate, gender and culturally appropriate, positive, normative, and non-stigmatizing individualized education programs. Forms for quarterly review of student progress are included. Individual sections of the profile manual address the following aspects: (1) instructional methods; (2) behavior management methods; (3) assessment methods; (4) curriculum and the Individual Program Plan; (5) adaptive equipment and environmental modification; (6) medical-physical needs; (7) staffing and support services; (8) placement; and (9) communication. A detailed glossary provides definitions, explanations, examples and instructional suggestions for each profile term or concept printed in italics. (DB)
