GlobaLinks: Resources for World Studies, Grades K-8.
For years, criticism of education in the United States has focused on the nation as ethnocentric. Schools can maximize their students' multicultural experiences by developing curricula that heighten global consciousness and responsibility. This book is intended as a guide for unlocking the treasures of the world. The book offers current resources available for purchase or through school and public libraries that help fulfill national standards for social studies, geography, language arts, information literacy, science, technology, life skills, and character education. Following an introduction, the book is divided into the following parts: (1) "General World References: Print and Nonprint"; (2) "General World Resources: Web Sites"; and (3) "Keypal/Pen Pal Projects and Resources." Appendix A contains a Web site title index and Appendix B contains a short story/folktale title index. (Contains an author/illustrator index, a title index, and a subject index.) (BT)
