Oyama, Keizo, Ed.; Gotoda, Hironobu, Ed.
The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative has helped to create a community of people united in the common purpose of promoting cross-disciplinary resource discovery. DC-2001, the International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications 2001, is the first annual Dublin Core meeting in Asia, recognizing the growth of activities in the Asian metadata community as well as the growing contributions and importance of metadata developments in this region. In this event, researchers and practitioners exchange new ideas and demonstrate practical aspects of metadata standardization and applications by means of technical presentations, tutorials and discussions. This proceedings captures some of the vitality and diversity of the Dublin Core community-the DC-2001 Program Committee received submissions from more than 20 countries. Papers are presented in this document by the following Paper Sessions: (1) Queries; (2) Metadata for Learners; (3) Domain Profiles I; (4) Complexity and Granularity; (5) Models; (6) Domain Profiles II; (7) Tools; and (8) Application Architectures. Papers in three Special Sessions follow: (1) Metadata in Education; (2) Government Information; and (3) Geographic Information Systems. Included with these proceedings is a separate booklet of "Presentation Materials" from the conference. (Includes an author index.) (AEF)
