This is the 21st year of statewide student testing under the Arizona Student Achievement Program, which mandates the use of a nationally standardized norm-referenced achievement test in reading, mathematics, and language in the state's schools. In the 2000-2001 school year, students in grades 1 through 9 were tested using the Stanford Achievement Test, Ninth Edition (Stanford 9). One subtest in the academic content area of reading was administered to students in grade 12, and three subtests in the content areas of reading, language, and mathematics were administered in grades 2 through 9. This "State Report Appendix" provides school, district, county, and state-level scores representing typical student performance on the 2000-2001 administration of the Stanford 9. Sections A, B, and C provide separate scores, one for each subject tested. The three scores cannot be averaged together to produce one overall score for a school, district, county, or state. The scores are called "individual percentile" rank scores, and they indicate the estimated percentage of students nationally scoring equal to or lower than the average performance indicated for a school, district, county, or the state.
