Teaching Literacy Students in Your ESL Class.

This package of information from a teacher training workshop is designed to be used by English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) teachers working with literacy students. Training objectives are for participants to identify the following: characteristics of adult ESL learners, the methods most effective in adult ESL literacy instruction, and strategies for classroom management. Participants are also taught to create a lesson plan for literacy students in a multilevel class. Also included are six literacy learner profiles. Handouts suitable for photocopying are also included. Four brief information sheets are also provided: "Reading Theory Made Simple"; "Multi-Level Lesson Plan Idea"; "Tips To Live by When Teaching ESL Literacy"; and "Self Access Materials for Literacy Students."
