Focus on Middle School, v13 n1-4 Fall 2000-Sum 2001
This document consists of four issues of a quarterly newsletter for educators at the middle school level. Each issue focuses on one major topic, and includes a column by an ACEI Executive Board vice president on varying topics. The Fall 2000 issue focuses on a community-wide collaborative model for service and program delivery for at-risk middle level students. The vice president's column addresses ways to integrate the Internet into the middle level curriculum. The Winter 2000 issue focuses on homework and discusses its benefits, provides a list of do's and don'ts for teachers, presents a planning guide for homework reading assignments, and offers tips for parents. The vice president's column discusses ways to explore science and mathematics at an amusement park. The Spring 2001 issue discusses ways to build a culture of high standards in middle grades. The vice president's column describes a social curriculum to address problems in the cafeteria. The Summer 2001 issue addresses standards, standardization, and student engagement. The vice president's column suggests ways educators can provide communication guidelines for busy parents of early adolescents. (KB)
