Guidance Curriculum for the Comprehensive School Counseling Program, K-12.

The comprehensive school counseling program refers to a sequential, developmental program designed to benefit all students in preparation for their futures. The program includes a curriculum organized around academic development, career development, and personal and social development. Activities and strategies for achieving identified outcomes in these areas can be integrated across the curriculum by teachers and counselors. Section 1 illustrates the connectivity between the National Standards; the ABCs Goals; the SCANS; and the National Career Development Guidelines. It also discusses school counselors' roles and functions; role of school personnel and community in a comprehensive school guidance and counseling program; and components of a school counseling program. Section 2 contains curriculum lessons on academic, career, and personal development for elementary, middle, and high school grades. Section 3 contains resources and an appendix for assessing needs and evaluating programs, and delivering the guidance curriculum for the North Carolina Comprehensive School Counseling Program.
