South Texas Community Coll., McAllen. Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
This report presents the results for the Automated Student and Adult Learner Follow-up System at South Texas Community College (STCC). It details the employment and further education experiences of STCC students who graduated in 1998-99. All technical programs at the college are required to meet a standard of 85% placement of graduates. Successful placement includes employment and/or further pursuit of higher education. Data were collected from student records and graduate follow-up surveys. Results indicated that all of technical programs at the college, with the exception of Childcare and Development (84%), met the minimum standard of 85%. In the last five years, all of the technical programs overall have met their minimum standards, with all programs in the last five years having achieved a success rate of 90-plus percent. In looking at specific courses of study within each technical program, the following courses of study did not meet the 85% threshold in the 98/99 year: computer specialist (75%), word processing clerk (84%), Health Unit Coordination (79%), and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning AAS (67%).
