University of Alaska Anchorage Student Information, Fall 1999 Opening.
Alaska Univ., Anchorage.
This statistical document from the University of Alaska Anchorage provides charts and graphs regarding students and student activities at the college and its community college campuses in the fall of 1999. Included is information on student headcount and credit hours, majors by specific college within the university, credit hours by discipline, and student head counts and majors at their branch campuses. Overall, at the main campus, enrollment was down by 2% in fall 1999 from the previous fall. The main campus had a total student head count of 11,733, of which 44% were full time. Of the full-time students on the main campus, both males and females were equally represented, but females were almost twice as likely to be part-time students. Over the last 5 years the community and technical colleges, the school of engineering, and the college of health, education, and social welfare lost a substantial number of students. During the same time period, the college of business and public policy and the college of arts and sciences also lost students but not to the same degree as the other colleges at the university. Some of this loss in student head count can be attributed to the 23% increase in students who were undeclared and therefore not affiliated with a school or college. (LD)
