Making Sense of Environmental Education Research as an Evidence Base.
Rickinson, Mark
Enhancing the educational research communication between educational researchers and educational practitioners has seen a great increase of interest in recent years. This paper reviews environmental education research evidence and examines the nature and quality of current educational research on students and student learning. There are three focal points in this review: (1) the increasingly diverse nature of the research field in environmental education; (2) the need for reviews focused on the nature of the research; and (3) recognition of the importance of research on students and learning. The methodologies used in this review are systematic, comprehensive, and analytical. The materials included in the review involve any environmental education activity undertaken in school or under the auspices of the school. The Review Framework is appended. (Contains 48 references.)
