This paper describes an online course on curriculum development and implementation in early childhood education offered to preservice teachers at Philadelphia's Temple University. The paper describes designing the curriculum of the online course, hardware and software requirements, development of an online teaching strategy, implementation, and evaluation of the course and online instruction methods (79 percent of students expressed satisfaction). The paper concludes by asserting that online courses, with their flexibility and ability to reach students at a distance, benefit both students and universities and also enhance preservice teachers' competence with the technology they can use to teach young children.
