The 2000 Factbook about the University of Alaska-Anchorage (UAA) provides student enrollment data, student performance data, faculty information, and financial information. The UAA encompasses a university system, five affiliated community colleges, and a distance learning program. Work has been completed for UAA's decennial institutional accreditation self-study and attention will be shifting to the development of key performance indicators and to preparing data in support of program assessments. Enrollment data include student headcount and credit hours percent change, UAA headcount by student characteristics, student credit hours by campus and course level, and student credit hours by subject/discipline. Highlights include: (1) the fall 1999 total student headcount for UAA campuses was 20,003, a decrease of 4% from the previous year; (2) student characteristics as a percent of total UAA student headcount shows that 43% were part-time female students, 25% were part-time male students, 18% were full-time female students and 14% were full-time male students; and (3) about 34% of total Anchorage first time freshmen were enrolled in remedial coursework for fall 1999 semester. Data such as student enrollment in remedial coursework, participation in adult learning center programs, undergraduate grade analysis, and mean SAT scores for freshmen were used as key performance indicators in this report.
